PORT ALBERNI
ACTIVITIES, RECREATION, THINGS TO DO AND SEE
The West Coast
Trail, a 75 km wilderness trek from Bamfield
to Port Renfrew, is a test of endurance
following steep ladders, convulsing streams,
slippery slopes, rope sling crossings,
sandstone shelves, cliffs, and dense
rainforest trails.
Nothing compares to a misty, cross-island drive through MacMillan
Provincial park's Cathedral Grove in the spring. Except perhaps a
visit in October when the locals line jack-o'-lanterns along the
old-growth corridor. the island is a photographer's dream, and the
Cathedral Grove section of highway offers myriad delights for
explorers: mushrooms, birds and BC's lush native plants, all of
which provide inspiration for the artisans who dot the island.

Besides a rod and reel, the other item
anglers must have in order to go fishing is
a licence. Remember to always carry your
licence with you.
More Hiking Trails and activity ideas in our area. For the avid
golfers, choose from a 9 hole public course
open year round to a semi-private 18 hole
course both with spectacular mountain
backdrops.
